July 2025 Web  Newsletter

Welcome to the  July edition of the NBCW Diocesan Link newsletter. We re moving on through this Jubilee year. Pope Leo is proving to be as good a communicator with the world’s media as his beloved predecessor was .

Thoughts nearer to home will be eagerly (or anxiously) anticipating the school holidays. A time to be enjoyed but also to some, dreaded for many different reasons. A time to be particularly observant in our  communities.

I attended Arundel Cathedral to  see the Corpus Christi Carpet of Flowers. What a beautiful way to share the beauty of the Catholic Church.

Synodality 101: Workshops in July. Anyone can apply  The Synod process has emphasised the importance of listening and good conversations in our community life. However these are not always so easy in practice! This 101: Conversations in the Spirit workshop series will introduce the principles of holding prayerful, truthful and safe conversations which value gracious listening and courageous speaking.

It is suitable for all levels of experience including people who have not been involved in the Synod process so far. You will be supported to hold your own 'trial' conversation over the course of the sessions, and reflect back on your experience with the group. We will also hold a conversation in the Spirit each week.

Find out more about our 101 workshops here >>

Saturday 12 July at Worth Catholic Union Summer Gathering. ALL WELCOME

The Catholic Union’s annual Summer Gathering will be held at Worth Abbey on Saturday 12 July. The day will include an address from Baroness Hollins, President of the Catholic Union, and a chance to meet fellow members and supporters of the Catholic Union in congenial surroundings.  Fortuitously the day coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the Consecration of Worth Abbey Church and we are lucky enough to be able to join in their celebrations. Rt Rev. Jeremias Schröder OSB, Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation, will speak about the Rule of St Benedict and its relevance for today.

More information, including booking details, can be found on the Catholic Union’s website any queries or problems please contact info@catholicunion.org.uk or telephone 020 87491321
